Sweet Vegan’s unsung heroes- NY Presbytarian Hospital

“When you face difficult times, know that challenges are not sent to destroy you. They’re sent to promote, increase and strengthen you.”

— Joel Olsteen

Meet Vanessa Minaya and her story

her thoughts and goal as a first responder

one must be a very very strong person to work with the covid-19 losses and also have a Big Heart. my goal at the hospital is to give each patient the same quality care as if this was my own family member. The atmosphere of these tough times has fostered a sense of loyalty and working together in the hospital.

We all have a story to tell during this time and our appreciation goes out to our First Responders. Sweet Vegan wants to highlight our Un-Sung heroes and their dedication for taking care of us.

Vanessa Minaya was nominated by Sheryl Orr who works with her mom, Maria Alonzo at Morgan, Lewis & Bockius LLP. Sheryl was so generouse to donate the funds to make this happen. Vanessa's day consists of seeing inpatient + out patients, approx. 100 in a day and approximately 80 patients have been diaganosed with the Covid-19. She wears the required PPE at all times.

Vanessa, as many, have voluntarily quarantined herself from her family for fear of making their situation worse. She is living at a hotel near the hospital. Her family, who lives in the Bronx, has been ravaged by COVID-19. Vanessa’s mom is working full-time while simultaneously nursing numerous relatives through COVID-19. They have lost more than one close family member to the pandemic and have been emotionally and phyically overwhelmed through this tough time.

Thank you, Vanessa and the entire amazing team in Radiology at NYU Presbyterian Hospital!
